14. Clinical trial result of quality of life assessment of cancer patients ingesting SG135

Effects of Sun ginseng on subjective quality of life in cancer patients: a double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial.

A result of 12 weeks of clinical trial evaluating the quality of life of cancer patients ingesting SG135, performed by Gacheon University Hospital, has been presented as follows.

Results of randomized double blind study on total 53 patients, consisting of gynecologic cancer patients(n=28), hepatoma patients(n=13), and other miscellaneous cancer patients(n=12), were analyzed through WHO Quality of Life Assessment-Bref (WHOQOL-BREF) and General Health Questionaire-12(GHO-12).

The results of experiment done through WHOQOL-BREF after 12 weeks showed that SG135 administered group had quality of life measures significantly improved compared to the control group.

-Psychological domain (p=0.02),

-Physical health domain (p=0.06),

-Environment domain (p=0.07).

SG135 administered group had much improved (p< 0.01) scores compared to the control group on GHO-12 total score scale. No severe adverse reaction whatsoever occurred in both the groups.

The above research results seem very important for both doctors and patients since SG135 grants hope of cure to the cancer patients by improving their quality of life significantly, and increases therapeutic efficiency by improving treatment compliance.
